Project scope: Assessment and reporting of front-end crashworthiness performance of legacy fleets XPT and XPL for specific animal types, impact locations and closing speeds
Ferrovia’s Involvement:
Assessment and reporting of front-end crashworthiness performance of legacy fleets XPT and XPL. Load cases consisted of:
3 animal types (size, shape, mass, orientation),
3 impact speeds, and
3 impact locations
Reverse engineered the front-end geometry to build 3d CAD assembly, with material specifications required for FE model.
Built, ran and debugged crashworthiness dynamic FEA model. Conducted matrix of load cases, analysed findings and generated final report, incl. videos of results & strain plots.
