What we do

Ferrovia provides resources into projects to either support a client’s team in an integrated manner, or to independently carry out entire scopes of work from start to finish. We specialise in, amongst other things:

  • Design & Engineering
  • Project & Engineering Management

Achieving your goals

Many of our team carry experience across several disciplines and sub-disciplines, and unlike some of our competitors, we take ownership for what we do!

We are a team of people with the same end goals as you – to achieve great outcomes in a cost-efficient manner, delivering true value.

Design & Engineering

We get involved with industrial design, feasibility studies, concept development, train layout, generating design requirements, integrating customer experience needs and taking product development through the engineering life cycle to production.

Heaps of disciplines are required to cover this – our areas of specialty are listed below.

Telling the story...

Design is a subjective discipline where there is often no “right or wrong” answer, and yet you will find clear trends with people’s emotional connections or reactions (both positive and negative) to cars, trains or busses.

At Ferrovia, our designers are passionate about what they do. We work hard to achieve that positive reaction from our clients and end users. And we work even harder to really understand user needs, exploring several options before narrowing in on a solution path.

We are super quick at concept development, creating strong visualisations to enable non-technical stakeholders to appreciate how something will look, perform or function

Mock-ups derisk design

We recommend a design and mock-up approach, where projects can be significantly de-risked for time and cost by building low fidelity mock-ups/prototypes and then conducting user evaluation. When users are involved in the design of a product that affects them, we gain the greatest insight to the required functionality and performance.

Our approach is tried and tested, which is why our design work has always undergone evaluation prior to first time manufacture.

Project and Engineering Management

We are increasingly being asked to support our clients with these skills. Commonly, large infrastructure projects tend to be under time pressure (as things are running late) and this creates cost blow outs and additional stress.

Delivering projects safely is about bringing people together, determining the priorities against competing demands and providing clear and thorough communication to leadership. Our key skill is to simplify complex problems, this is not always straightforward but nevertheless, we are really good at it.
