Project scope: New EMU fleet to replace V-sets, the project required delivery activities from specification through to final acceptance of 610 cars to form 61 x 4 car sets and 61 x 6-car sets.

Ferrovia’s Involvement:

  • Key roles on project team included:
    • Senior Project Manager, acting Project Director, Project Manager
    • Lead rolling stock SMEs for interiors, seats, RAM & safety assurance, train layout, customer experience, crashworthiness, DDA & DSAPT, schedule of finishes & decals
    • Lead engineer for HF integration, mock-up use, requirements trade-offs, conflicts
    • HF and Accessibility Manager
  • Led industrial design and styling for exterior and interiors
  • Led project through all design phases, manufacturing, T&C through to Client Acceptance.
  • TfNSW lead for engagements with user groups including impaired (vision, mobility, hearing, cognitive) achieving high praise from ATAC representatives. Videos for engagements, during design and built train:
  • Supported seat design development with 2 rounds of seat comfort testing to achieve compliance.
  • Conducted manufacturing reviews at factories in South Korea (train) and France (passenger seats).
  • Providing structural engineering advice by independently reviewing and assessing Finite Element Analysis (FEA) reports for crew bodyside door system.
